The 20th Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry of ASEAN and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (20th AMAF+3) was held via video conference on Oct. 21. The Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon presided over the meeting. ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi and representatives of agriculture and forestry ministries of 12 countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Cambodia, attended the meeing. Chief Livestock Officer of China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Ma Youxiang delivered a speech at the meeting.
Ma fully affirmed the in-depth cooperation among ASEAN+3 countries in implementing the ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation Strategy on Food, Agriculture and Forestry (APTCS) 2016-2025 and the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve Agreement, and applauded the progress of agricultural policy, trade and technological research cooperation . He said that China is ready to work with other sides to further strengthen agricultural policy exchanges and information sharing among the ASEAN+3 countries, enhance cooperation in agricultural science and technology innovation, improve and upgrade agricultural cooperation between China and ASEAN, and expand agricultural investment and trade, in a bid to make greater contributions to agricultural and rural development in the region.
The meeting reviewed and adopted the 20th AMAF Plus 3 Joint Press Statement and several other documents, and agreed to hold the 21st AMAF Plus 3 Meeting in Indonesia.
